Lynda, I'm sorry this is anonymous, but for personal reasons I feel it is better this way. Reading through your blog makes me so sad. Not sad with pity, but sad with seeing how much your struggles are affecting you. As a victim of multiple abuses in my life, I've spent a lot of time in and out of therapy, and possibly the most important thing I've learned is to not let the pain of the past (or the present) be the only lens through which you view life. Richard G. Scott in an amazing talk that has helped me so much, "Finding Joy in Life", said it perfectly when he said, "A pebble held close to the eye appears to be a gigantic obstacle. Cast on the ground, it is seen in perspective. Likewise, problems or trials in our lives need to be viewed in the perspective of scriptural doctrine. Otherwise they can easily overtake our vision, absorb our energy, and deprive us of the joy and beauty the Lord intends us to receive here on earth." Don't let this seemingly giant pebble deprive you of the joy you're meant to feel. You're meant to feel so much joy! Truly!
ReplyDeleteIn the same talk, Richard G. Scott also said, "Sadness, disappointment, and severe challenge are events in life, not life itself. I do not minimize how hard some of these events are. They can extend over a long period of time, but they should not be allowed to become the confining center of everything you do." It took me a long time to understand how important to my happiness and even health this is. But it is so so important. Know that you are more than all of this negativity. Enjoy life. Enjoy sunsets and all of the things you HAVE.
I think you are wonderful and worth so much. I encourage you to read that talk, it has helped me so much. Know you are loved and you are wonderful and so much more than your struggles.
